light jigs on plastics
I've noticed that when i put some sp's on really light jigs the action decreases. Maybe i just dont thread them on right but is this supposed to happen?

I've experienced the same with light heads. Especially lures that rely on the tail fluttering on the drop and at low speed like single tail grubs
Where light heads come into their own are Bass minnows in my opinion. Heavier heads can kill the darting motion and reduce eratic behaviour like belly flashes when you give them a jerk Last edited by yellow door 1; 22-02-2005 at 10:01 AM. |

What SP's are you using the light jigs on.
With stick baits the action is allot more life like and the bait glides rather than sinks. If your using curl tail grubs with light heads and not getting any action in the tail its because there not enough resstance in the water to force the tail to move. Hope that helps ![]() Cheers, Nathan

Thanks for that. Nath, im mainly using atomic 2" fat grubs and 1.5" sliders.
I think the action on a 1/22nd jig isnt that bad but 1/32 doesnt have much.

Yeah figured.
When I fish grubs (which isnt allot lately) and I want to rig them light I will keep my rod tip low and give the rod more longer snappier jerks that way it gets the tail moving. The only down side is that when your after shut down fish it wont work as well. cheers, Nathan

Try the Para Max grubs. They work with ultra light weights. I was using them on 1/24 and 1/32 and the slightest movement of the head sinking made them work.

Try shaking the rod tip to help put a bit of extra wiggle in the tail

Is that the 3" paramax or the 2"?

You can also do some customisation to your tails to get them to work at slower speeds. Trim off the inside edge of you curl tails to make the curl tail thinner (so they look more like a squidgy wriggler curl tail) or a notch in the connecting bit of a t-tail.
