Angry A firm reply....

As you know, I am a fairly calm and easy guy. One thing that gets my goat up is when someone sprouts off, purporting to have knowledge in a particular area.

I have just stumbled across a post on the Western Angler forum, from a guy in Albany who apparently saw me selling "top brand lures" from the boot of my car at the Albany comp. This is very interesting considering the gear I took down at the request of several competitors went from the boat, into the chalet, back into the boat and home. Apparently I took money out of Albany despite spending $1000 over the four days and only making $200 from the sales I did ??? I then gave away $180 in sponsorship gear and prizes over the two days as well as shouting pizza's on Saturday night.

I apparently breached some Albany ethic by taking gear not available locally down for my existing customers, and by not giving the caravan park a "cut" of the profits, despite the fact that I paid a very tidy sum to them for accomodation , told them up front that I would be selling gear during the comp and offered to put up a free page on our site telling people about the park and the awesome fishing in the Kalgan. I had also spoken to the Albany shire about whether a permit was required (which it wasn't).

For those of you who are Western Angler regulars and shot him down in flames, Thank you. It's great to know I have your support when needed. For those of you who aren't regulars and may stumble across the post, my reply leaves no doubt as to my attitude toward sprouting off in this manner (if it's still there...lol).

I'm tempted to put a link to his email here, but that would only be reducing myself to his level.

Thanks again to those who replied on my behalf so quickly.

Warren.

Yeah I saw the posts on there Warren, don't worry mate, I've seen people like him before, sometimes I tread on them whilst walking in the park and I have to wipe it off my shoe casue it smells funny.

What did he put into the bream Tournaments? In fact we put nearly $20,000 into the Albany economy in juts two days and the local TV station and papers and shire wouldn't even give us the time of day.

They will have to do alot better then that if they want us to head back there at sometime in the future.

Ira: you may say that, but I have a feeling the thought of the Kalgan's bream population is going to draw you back regardless of TV / newspaper coverage!

No but seriously I know what you're getting at and it's a pain in the @$$ when idiots like that guy get in the way without knowing the full story...

It's a shame too, I came away from Albany feeling really good about the place. The people at the Kalgan River Caravan Park were great, that's why I'll put a free page up for them in the next week or so.

The guy at the Shell servo in Lower King was a top bloke (he sold Little Creatures at a better price than I can get it here !!!), the people at Albany Fish and Chips were great, the girl running Eagle Boys couldn't do enough for us on Saturday night, in fact I didn't meet anyone negative over the four days we were there.
They obviously hide all the idiots when people come to town.

Isn't it a shame how one peanut can undo all this good work just by shooting his mouth off.

Warren.

Hey guys. Don't let one little s### spoil it for all of the good comments we did receive.

I got chatting to a few of the guys who live at the park and they thought it was great that we can and they really enjoyed the weigh in and the attitude of the people competing.

Maybe Mr. Spoil Sport will think b4 he blurts out again.

Pay no attention to it big fella - the people that matter know what BreamMaster is all about

My dad had a saying "better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you may be a fool, than open your mouth and prove it"

That post is a perfect example of people's fingers running faster than their brains

Warren, I favour we just write that peanut off. I havent seen his post and I'm not going to dignify it by searching for it.

Beyond the fact that most of the items you dispensed were probably not available locally, were sold legally and was only being provided because we wanted you to anyway, I think that as a group what we put in to the place should have left a fairly positive memory for the locals down there. What you put in personally is certainly appreciated by me and everyone else that was there.

Me and Richo talked to the guy at that servo close by and he just couldnt have been happier with having us all down there. In fact we managed, as a group, to sell him out of some of his stocked lines. Strangely, these were all alcohol lines lol. I dont know about everyone else, but Richo and I probably spent about $500 on non-fishing supplies. I reckon if you added everyone up it would have been a pretty handy bonus for the local community.

In summary, what a short sighted whinge.

He had Little Creatures Pale Ale !!!

Your right guys, it just pisses me off because I've had to work hard and spend money to gain credability over the last six months, and one stupid post has the potential to undo it.

Never mind, even some of the Western Angler regulars who I've never heard from before have emailed me with support after I put the reply post up.

How good was it to be able to get Little Creatures Pale Ale 500m from where we were staying....

I tried 3 shops in town and had resigned myself to a six pack of Tooheys Extra Dry when I stumbled into that servo.

3 cheers for Little Creatures and the Shell servo at Lower King....hip hip hip

That wouldnt even have lasted the trip back up the driveway. And I've never seen a six pack come in a box that big before

Well ok, it was a six pack of six packs. And it didn't last Thursday night after Ira got into them. Still, at $30 a carton the Tooheys Extra dry doesn't stack up too badly against the Little Creatures at $60.

And onsh you've had a cubble...they all tashte the shame.
