Breamboy,

I would be aiming at 4lb or 6lb Fireline, length of leader between 1-2 metres (I prefer 2m as it gives you enough to tie knots a few times before doing a new leader) and Leader breaking strain try to have 6Lb 8Lb & 10Lb and change leaders to suit the conditions that you are fishing in.

Do a search on this site for "leader" and you will get a lot of info to read.

Hope that helps

Yeh, I agree with jim. 10 pound is probably a bit heavy. I usually use around a 9 or 10 pound leader.

Yeah go 4lb. Im using 6 lb the strength is incredible. 4lb will be more than suitable and the smaller diameter will definately help.
