Yeah no problems at all.
Use a fine tooth hack saw and go easy on it. I done it to my rod and it made it so much easier to fish with. Im thinking about doing it to my HL-Z's coz they have longas butts that get in the way. If you take it to a rod builder hes just going to put it in a vise and hack it off no better than what you would in your own shed. Save your self the $20 or so dollars and do it your self. cheers, Nathan

Well its only a stella so there no much in the butt cap. Just chop it off at the join and re glue it with propper wood glue.
cheers, Nathan

You wont really need to take much of the Stella anyways. They have a fairly short butt as it is.
cheers, Nathan

If your butt cap is 2cms long you have to "whittle" away 2cms of cork from the bottom of the blank. When you slide the butt cap back on it might be a little bit loose. Just keep wrapping masking tape to make the blank thicker until it fits snug. I used araldite because the wood glue I have at home dissolves in water. As Nath said If you use wood glue make sure its the water proof stuff. Last edited by yellow door 1; 09-12-2004 at 10:58 PM. |
