All Rounder Reel for SPs

Hi folks

Im hanging up my alvey 650bc / Snyder combo for a bit to try some more finesse fishing and get some good table fish....no more eating tailor or salmon Well ok, Im getting too fat drinking beers beach fishing

So today I bought a Shimano SS squidgy spin 70 rod and a shimano stradic 1000FH. Im looking at the real and it looks so *tiny*. The bloke in the store was experienced and when I asked about hooking up a smaller pelagic by mistake / chance he said he landed a 5kg jewie once on the same setup......

I dont know though, Im just wondering if I should pay the extra for the 2500 sized stradic? Weight seems only 50grams?

Would the 2500 be a good match for my rod? Yes I want to do breaming but also large flatties and anything else I could get.

*ALSO* who here has tried the Jack Erskine carbon fibre composite drag washers and lapped rings?

I've actually down sized all of my reels and other than having to chase a bigger fish, haven't had a problem with landing them. Any good rell should handle the pressure and I do prefer the smaller reels if I'm casting all day.

Personal preference though.
