Tackle Syndrome
Hi all,
From what I have read from the numerous posting in this forum, I found out that most of us here can be considered hardcore anglers. Most of us have not just one reel or say two reels with two rods. As and when a new reel came into the market, we always (as usual....always) head down to the nearest tackle shop to get a feel of the new reel. Once we hold it, that's it.....money out from the pocker and we have another new reel. Pity the one (reel) that is gonna be neglected soon. I think all of us here have contracted the "tackle syndrome". I am getting abit worried as I am buying more and more tackle and lures and such. I just got the 2506 R+ and now I am buying the certate R when the 2506+ is only less than 6 months old. Going further, we anglers always want to match the reel to a suitable rod! New rod again. End up spending $5000+ on tackles this year. If this gonna keep on, sooner or later my Home Ministry is gonna band me from going to the tackle shop!!! Let's see what's your view on this. |

I know where you're coming from mate, I'm really trying to stay clear of my tackle store now. Having said that I went there today already and bought a HL-Z...
Last week I bought a Tiagra 50W and 24kg rod, and some lures... and ordered another game rod... I'm also waiting on my Alphas to arrive from Japan... I've sworn today that I'm not buying any more rods or reels for a while.

I have had this problem for years now. It only gets worse. I have so much gear now I can't even decide which setup to use.
I told myself not buying any rods and reels for this year but end up purchase saltiga 6500 exp and SA50 which I may not be using. And what's next, I got myself involved in a TD-Z type R casting reel last Saturday. Maybe given time, I will cure myself of this when the whole room is full of rods and reels. |

I do now understand when the tackle industry is worth billions of dollars! As long as tackle manufacturers continue to produce better and lighter reels (especially those that can just flash out to catch your attention!), we guys are not going to stop buying.
Now, you could have the best of the best reel and rod and I bet 3 months down the road, after chirstmas, a new and better rod and reel would come into the market. The only way to stop buying is to stop testing it and going to the forms!!! Once you test it in your local tackle shop...sorry mate.....irrationality will come into work! Ticking your brain to flash out your wallet or credit card....... |
