There used to be a video out by John Bethume (I think) with all kinds of crazy casting styles on it, both spin and baitcast. That bloke is a freak when it comes to casting a fishing rod.

One piece of casting advice, be very careful when B&A casting a high modulus rod... I speak from several experiences... Don't bend it to too much of an angle towards tiself, it's no Ugly Stick!

Not that I know of but I recommend you get out in the backyard or oval and try to hit a rubbish bit at varying distances.

Did you manage to get into that cast i showed you?
Showed the same to zac 87 and he is putting casts in next to mine And catching bigger fish

Practice makes perfect. I managed to rip out a few casts from pretty much right in front of me, a few squatting to get low etc last weekend on the blackwood and didn't bust off once.

Hi Brad

Been practising that cast you showed me indeed. At present, it is still ending up about 3 feet in front of my feet!!!! Guess I will get it eventually. I want it to go far, it lands in front of me, want it to go right and it goes, left.... etc etc! Those Bream must be having a damn good laugh.... I'll get there eventually ....

Thanks again!

well....heres my 2c worth of knowledge........

Casting a fishing rod is much like a golf swing......in that i mean the smoother you swing the club, the further the ball is likely to go......much like casting.....

The next time you cast, instead of trying to swing your rod hard, try to swing it smooth and swift......you'll find the smoother your cast, the smoother the line peels off your reel and through the guides........

dunno how much this would help you, but it works for me........

Goto agree with ya there, when I cast my guts out, it only usually only goes 2-3m further than if i just cast casually and think abit more about where the rod is pointing

you'll find also that the smoother your cast is, the more accurate it is....

btw.....y cast so far when the breams are only 5-10m from the shore???

I'm a shore based angler and find that most of the bream i catch is within that range......
