Used to have it on my bottom bouncing gear. 30lb from memory. Havent seen it for ages but it was okay. Fireline is smaller in diameter and more responsive. Overall a better fused line than spiderwire fusion too.

I think fusion was one of the first types of fused braids available and technology has come a long way since, hence the quality of fire line and the new fireline that is starting to pop up.

What does it retail for ? Fireline is probably the better buy still and you get the choice of colours.

fusion line

I've found fusion to be excellent as far as abrasion goes, but it has a high memory, meaning it isnt much fun to use in the lighter classes. maybe its just me and my style of fishing.

Fusion was Berkley's first entry into GsP fused lines. Its a fore runner to Berkley fireline, It isn't a Spiderwire product and the Fusdion/fireline process is a berkley patent. Berkley also produced a line called UltraMax, it was a braided GsP line with a 10lb mono core. B/S 40lb. Pretty good stuff, very abrasion resistant and would have made great fly running lines but we let it slip through out fingers. Bit stupid really. Max

I got some Spiderwire fusion from way back when braid was a new thing and 3 times more expensive than normal line. I remember spooling up my Shimano Coriolis baitcaster with 30 pound Gorilla Braid (Berkley) which was cheaper than SPiderwire by quite a bit and then went out, third cast in I hooked up to a 5.5kg barramundi who managed its own revenge by impaling my finger with the treble hooks from my own Nilsmaster spearhead when I tried to remove the lure from his mouth. After that I was sold to braid. When fusion came out, (I'm pretty sure they're from Spiderwire), I got a few packs because they were cheaper then spiderwire braid. Spooled it on my reel but found out that their diameter was thick. So much so that they created a lot drag in the water and I ended up re-spooling the reel with mono. Now I only use the fusion for heavier applications. That would be the last batch of fusion I will ever part my money with. I am however, very impressed by the Fireline.

Sorry cobs but, Fusion is a Berkley patented prosess, and trade name, as is Fireline. No other company would risk a big money lawsuit by using that particular trade name. cheers Max
