Daiwa Seabass

I'm waiting for delivery of my new Daiwa Seabass 106M and would appreciate any suggestions to the size of reel to run on it. I will be using it in the surf and will be throwing 30 to 40 gram metal slugs as well as plastics.I have a 2500R Hyper Certate that I was thinking of using but I just don't like the idea of sloshing about in the surf with it. Any suggestions on size and brand that would work well with the Seabass? Just to add I will probably use 10 kg braid .

anywhere from 3012h through to 4000h.

If you thinks its going to cop alot of water or sand i wouldnt go higher then a caldia in terms of price. If you think you can keep it dry or money isnt an issue then go wild in the certate/Morethan offerings.

I have a Blast 4020PE-H on my slightly heavier seabass but it would match just fine toi your model. Big jigging handle and a 6.2 gear ratio are perfect for spinning in the surf or off the rocks. 6.2 makes all the difference for me over a long session.

Also i you can hold off a couple of weeks till august the Daiwa BG 2016 range wil drop. Looking at 99 USD ( no au pricing as of yet ) Pretty damn cheap and if they are even close to the originals, they will be near bullet proof. Their promo material on the oversized gearing looks promising. Not fancy and deliberately dont include alot of the higher end daiwa tech but this means they can focus the value onto the gearing and materials for long term use.

I run a 3000 size Daiwa sol 2 on a similar rod, mid price range so i don't cry if it gets salt water or sand in it plus i service them myself anyway.
I chose the 3000 over a 4000 mainly because of the weight saving, you can cast with the lighter reel all day.
I don't know what your chasing i'd imagine mainly Tailor and salmon by your description, i run 12lb braid on mine as there's nothing in the surf to get busted off on so don't need anything heavier and you can cast the lighter line further.
