Gt Poppers 4 Winter Cod

So I am heading down south to target a mega Murray Cod on surface later in the year and I was thinking over a beverage - would a GT popper work on the Cod, I will have a selection of other cod lures but what are people's thoughts????

Would probably work but no where near as good as actual big cod surface lures. Not sure if they would like the big blooping action much compared to a steady wake across the surface, which is a little more subtle and allows them to really home in on the lure. I did speak to a mate not to long ago and he told me he tried poppers at Mulwala one night and they didn't really produce.
