Caldia issues

Gday all. Hoping the more esucated here can gelp me. I have a 2011 model 2000 size caldia and when retrieving it jams a little bit at the when the spool is at its lowest point. When i turn the anti reverse switch off and wind it backwards when it get to the lowest point it stops. I can still wind it and it picks up and moves again after a few more turns of the handle.
Is it something easy to fix?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
just to clarify, when you say the spool, you mean the spool that holds the line is at the closest point to the body; and not the rotor? ie not when the line roller is at the lowest point in it's rotation?
cheers
Steve

Well as far as I can imagine three likely points could be the main/pinion/oscillating shaft that the spool mounts to, a guide rail for the osc. slider and the osc. gear.
Probably won't know until dismantled so you can check the main and slider for trueness and the osc. slider/gear for damage or maybe obstruction or floating/damaged parts.
Service time I guess

Hey mate can be a build up of salt i had a similar issue in the same model 4000 size. Had it looked at and there was a bit of salt build on an internal lug or something... must of got lazy with the wash after one trip...

Probably best bet to get it looked at

If you've used it a lot the magseal is likely gone anyway. Caldia is a relatively simple reel, give it a shot mate.

Can live without it, you just need to be careful washing it down.

I recall Slazmo posting he makes a felt washer or something to help seal the area.

Yeh it can live without the seal. A lot of people have forgotten about the "oil seal" that Dawa brought out prior to Magseal. That was basically two stainless steel washers with a felt washer squashed between them with oil in that making contact with the inner AR shaft collar.

I still think that it was a better system!

Mate send it to Steve to get is serviced (t303 is his username on this). I dunked my certate and send it to him to get serviced. His service is awesome he got the reel back to me in less than a week and sent me pictures of the reel throughout the service and answered all my questions. Very cheap prices and even upgraded to carbontex drag washers for freeIt will probably take a couple of months if you send it to Daiwa, you are much better of sending it to Steve who will do the same job but much faster/
