Trebles on soft Plastics

I was watching a video of the action of one of the zman plastics and noticed a way of rigging the plastic I have never seen. The plastic being used was a 4 inch paddle tail and they had put the main jighead hook through the eye of the treble then stuck one of the treble hooks into the plastic. Does anyone else rig their plastics this way and would it still work well on smaller plastics like GrubZ.
Cheers
