Unitika Aorika 8lb PE11

I bought some PE5 and PE6 . Used it today and the PE6 is breaking randomly along its length, a good strike on a fish or a snag sees it break. Both rods with it on are doing it. The PE5 seems ok. Not Happy Jan !! It ties a good Knot, and you cannot break it by hand so it seems to have the odd week spot.

Maybe defective batch or rod/reel is causing it if you have sharp edges on a dodgy line roller or cracks on guides.

I'm using the 0.5Pe atm (which I assume is what you are using) because you cant break Pe5/6 by hand even with a 200kg bench.

Hey mate, I run the 0.6 8lb PE on the majority of my breaming reels and have done so for quite some time. Some of the braid has been on my reels for over 3 years and gets used regularly. Touch wood I havent had any hassles with it and have no trouble recommending to anyone.
When you strike at a snag or a fish and it breaks, where exactly is it breaking? Also what leader knot are you using?
If you have a small chip or crack in one of your rod guides this could be causing issues. To rule that out get a cotton tip and run it around the inside of the guides to check its not cracked.

It is happening on 2 set ups both with the PE 6 8 lb there are no problems with the guides or reel rollers as the Fins 40G and fireline It replaced were fine. The line is breaking any where along its length at random. I have a 3 rd rod with it on which I will try in the morning. The PE5 6lb is fine! If no one else has had a problem then my faith in the line is improving. It must be a bad batch of PE6. I will take it back to the store tomorrow after I test the 3 rd spool. It is not breaking at the knot which is an FG.
Thanks Howard.

Went out in the wind and rain this morning to try the 3 rd spool of line I bought, it is fine! Not a problem at all!! Even caught a few low 30's Bream and Big Eye Trevally. Plus I lost a big Flathead, again, bit through the 10 lb leader.

Where in Sydney did you get a big eye trevally?
