Hi I wanna fish
here are a couple of links for you 1: improved Albright 2: The Double Uni knor or Grinner My favoured knot is the double uni and without a double in the fireline I will make at least 8-10 turns in the fireline and say in 6lb flourocarbon do a corresponding 6-7 turns. As you go heavier in the leader you can reduce the turns to keep the knot size down. i.e. with 10lb leader try 4 turns but never any less. This is a trial and error exercise because leader varies in diameter. The most abrasion resistance comes from the larger diameter line and it stil needs to be good quality. You can trim your tags right at the knot once you have tested and remember that the tags of the double uni knot need to lay parallel with the fireline and length of leader when finished. If the tags are at a right angle then you have not tied the knot correctly. also have a read of this enlightening thread knot wars that should keep you busy for a while

i_wanna_fish, do you pull the tag end tightly after u do the knots? i think pulling the tag end very tightly is the key for a strong uni knot
