Samurai reaction 181

Toying with the idea of replacing my 101 with a 181, much difference between the 2 rods. looking for a little more backbone and stiffness, using for casting sx40 type lures. Opinions appreciated thanks.

Geeze this got a lot of interest.
For those interested I pulled the pin on a 181 and it is an awesome little rod, it has the backbone that I always felt the 101 was missing.
landed a 5 kg carp on it this arvo and the rod handled the fish no problems at all.
I had the chance to play with a new 201 and 252 in the shop and I was really impressed with the newer reactions in comparison to the old ones, they seem lighter and crisper. I think another samurai will end up in the kit by the end of the year.

Just wondered if you ever used the previous model 201 at all and how the 181 compares to it.

I have the older 201 , the new 181 feels lighter, they have a similar amount of power down low. The 181 runs smaller guides which I think reduces some weight which is noticeable in the tip section of the rod. Hard to explain but the newer reactions feel crisper without loosing the softness.

So what do you see as the differences between the 201 and the 181.

If I am looking for a plastics rod what would sway me to one rod over the other?

Some interesting history on how the 181 came about:

Quote:
181 is a much crisper rod, was made by accident as they built it on a baitcast blank and it was so good they kept it in the range. By far the most popular model in the reaction series and definitely the most diverse
