Deck refit
Has anybody tried aluminium plate when updating the casting deck / deck instead of ply. I am led to believe aluminium will last longer and is very strong. I am considering using 3mm sheet that is strengthened. I also understand carpet can be affixed as well.
Any feedback or suggestions is appreciated. |

Hey mate, Not sure where you are located but you have to take the heat factor into consideration because bare feet on hot metal don't exactly go to well. If heat isn't a problem or your happy to wear shoes in your boat I'd say 3mm checker plate would last a lot longer then ply.

I used this stuff to replace the rotted floor in my last boat. If available in seconds is very affordable and hard to go past. It is weighty however which aint necessarily a bad thing. Carpet can be attached but it is also very slippery when wet.

mate I have done this in quitrex hornet trophy pro on the main floor carpet sticks well and rock solid im not sure what thickness was used I think 3 mm.
I redid my casting decks in the 15mm uniboard not thick enough had to create all sorts of support beams and things . The main problem you will have is recreating the gap from the ply to 3 mm ali to get your decks back up to the top of the gap and level I would be interested in how you overcome this if you go ahead good luck |
