Tate or vanquish
Looking at getting one of these two in the near future and have never used a vanquish. Has anyone used both and how do they compare. Will probably run 3lb fluoro, and mostly be used for trout. Looking at the 2000s vanquish

Id go the 2004 high gear certate over the normal vanquish, and would go the limited edition vanquish over the certate any day.

Possibly another reel to consider would be the daiwa ignis type r 2003h

And I'll look into the ignis bamm |

it's more the fact that I didnt rate the vanquish. I reckon it felt average

Fair enough, I'm guessing the limited edition has more than just a shiny handle added then

Ive only owned the 2500 Ltd and it felt a whole level above the standard vanquish. That said I only have felt the non-high geared vanquish whereas the limited i have is a high gear, so different reels i guess.
Dont get me wrong the vanquish isn't a bad reel, but for the RRP of it theres no way I would go that over the certate. Last edited by The G factor; 25-07-2015 at 12:07 AM. |

Yea price/quality is what I'm tossing up atm. Thought they mightve been a fair bit better than the twinpower

Vanquish and Limited are exactly the same. Only different is the handle anodizing, yumeya handle knob and spool colour. They were more expensive when released because they were branded "limited edition" The black/red spool of the same is $150 and the yumeya knob are around $100.
I've never owned Daiwa reels but I would too; look at the Ignis Type R. Expecially when it seems you are buying o/s anyways and can be had for $370ish. |

Presso 2025's are pretty sweet little trout reels

Presso all day especially if your fishing streams there isnt a better reel in the daiwa stable for this application. ( not including the $exist$) |

Don't mean to derail the thread but what makes the presso a better trout reel over say a certate 2004ch?

I have tates and a presso and they're all great. The presso is lighter being based of the luvias body and I prefer it for streams personally but I used my 2004 tates for years before I had it so have no problems with either just if I had an option of both for stream fishing I'd grab the presso.

we'd all prefer a Stella over a Vanquish. Reading between the lines, I think he's looking to pay in the $350 - 400ish line. Aren't the Presso's around $550?
Certate and Vanquish definitely fill that finesse mark of fishing. I don't think one would be better than the other when it comes to small fish with light drag. Suppose which ever one looks nicer or comes home cheaper would be your option. they both re-sale very well too. |
