Battler Beowulf

Hey guys,

Im looking at a bit of heavier bream rod to target the bigger fish in the snags, etc. For the people who own one of the battler beowulf's, what do you use it for and what does it excel at? Hardbodies, plastics, surface? Any info on the rod would be useful.

Cheers

Awesome rod mate, I always enjoy using it, literally does everything well as its so light yet powerful.
throw tiny hard bodies with ease, is at home with a larger bream blade or 1/4 ounce jig head.
I've mixed it up lately and have spooled a certate 2500 with 4lb fc and I used bigger hardbodies like dunks, 75mm double clutch etc on it in deeper rocky drop off areas.
But for most of the 18 or so months I've had braid on a 2004 for plastics with it.

if you had to have just one rod it'd be right up there!

i own a beowolf, love it bud, I have mine matched with an Ignis 2000H running 4lb linesystem frog braid.

I use it for breaming mainly, I use vibes/blades, hardbodies, sp's and lures like the Zerek shrimp targeting structure ( pontoons, bridges, boats ect )

it is very light compares to a few other outfits that I own and has a lot of feel and back bone for when you need it as I have had to use on the last 2 outings.

I have used all weights in the hardbody and sp range, I find it an allrounder.

For the lighter real finesse situations when using 1.5g jigheads, I have the lighter water zombie 1-2kg with a 2000 luvias with 4lb ygk dragon 4 braid, this casts light weights well indeed for the spooky long light weight casting situations.

Hope this helps somewhat

Cheers gents, just the information I was after! Its one part of my arsenal I don't really have covered and the Tnsb's I have just don't seem to have the back bone for the bigger fish in snags. It should double as a nice pinky rod as well.

It will be paired with either a 2004 or 2508 certate so should be a nice combo.

They're only up to about 50cm, but it's primary use will be breambos so will see what happens

I love my beowolf, i have a few lighter setups that i mainly use for bream. but i use mine when chasing big lizards or jews and do take it out snappering. one of my favourite sessions with this rod was when a school of about 20 rat kings swam under me while i was bream fishing and it handled them (not with ease) matched mine with a 2508 exist

What leaders do you guys run through it? Most of the time I doubt I'd use much more than 8lb, but can you run 12lb through the guides?

The baewolf has pretty big guides I've run 10lb no problems it'll take 12lb maybe more one thing I found one session in pretty strong wind was when I had a longer leader and the leader knot was on the spool it would consistently hang up on the first guide I shortened the leader and no problems after that. Alot of guys run a 2004 on the baewolf but I match a 2500 tate on mine I don't use it for bream mainly when im casting bigger plastics for trout and reddies and other salt water species but that's just how I use it. It gets pretty good casting range too. I usually run a 6 or 8lb leader.

Yeah sweet as man. The plan is to run a 2508 certate at this stage which as you've said should suit it well. Its going to be mainly used for in the snags, etc. when fishing for bream, so good to hear you have had little issue with 10lb.
