Hornet Trophy nose too high

I've just realised that I've put this thread under the wrong heading. I put it under classifieds instead of this one. Here it is:

I bought a 2006 Quintrex Hornet Trophy 400 with a Yamaha 30hp 4 stroke. If you increase the throttle the gradually the nose gets really high before settling down on the plane. Is this normal for the 400? I've read lots about Permatrim type hydrofoils etc. being able to correct this but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and/or whether it's just a characteristic of these hulls.

Play around with your motor height and weight distribution, or look at a different prop. Dont put a hydrofoil on your motor unless it definitely needs it. Once the holes are drilled and they are bolted its staying there and might cause more problems.

yep that correct most do this because of width and weight it basically has to see saw over its centre line port to starboard of weight distribution onto the plane my 445 with a honda 60 hp elec trim tilt does this you get used to it

yep they do boat wheelies before getting on the plane, they do really big boat wheelies if you sit on the back deck two up!!!

I have a quintrex 435 Hornet with a 40 Yamaha on it , I noticed a similar thing with mine but believe that the go of them , there is a couple of things you can do
If there are two of you, have the passenger sit up the front , or if you are on your own either way just give it a bit till you are out of the hole and on the plane , you can then back it off and it will stay on the plane albeit a bit slower.
The main thing is to pop it up out of the hole quickly and you can slow down a bit from there.
I have only had mine about 6 months or so and is my first boat I love it , they are really stable hull, easy to get around in and fish from

Thanks for the replies so far guys. It's starting to look like it's just a characteristic of these hulls to do that nose up stuff before getting on to the plane. I'll definitely be trying some of the suggested techniques next time I'm on the water. I'm not a big fan of adding things to the rig like hydrofoils etc. so an improvement in boat handling technique might just be what is required here.
