Rod for 5000sw
Hey guys,
As title states im after a rod to suit a stella 5000sw. The rod will be used to throw stick baits (floating/sinking) Targeting fish around shallow water bombies etc so the rod will need to have lots of pulling power and be able to pump out long casts. Would prefer a long but section and decent cast weight (40g+), two peace is fine. Cheers frewzy. |

Oh and would like to keep the price around 1200 but could stretch a few more for the right rod.

The longer spin models fit your needs perfectly. Nice long butt, great components, lovely action and plenty of power!

Have a look a the 83MO-F. Its sexy rod and will fit the purpose well. Length may be not what your looking for. I've used mine for shallow sitckbaits for coral trout, small GTs and tailor, (handles rapala subwalks excellently) all the to spinning for mackerel etc. |

Just a question, why not go a custom build? Would cost about the same and that way quality of components is assured and you can match the reels aesthetics to

Check out the Phenix rods range
i have a M1 Inshore 7ft3L 8-20lb that is a nice rod for snapper and small to medium pelagics. But they do alot of off shore stuff. I have a 3000 Stradic ci4+ paired and 15lb power pro balances nicely. But ill need to upgrade to a 5000-6000 so i dont get smoked. They have a 77 M 15-35lb casts up to 6 ounces.Spin I have the BC version in that rod yet to pair up with somthing possibly a TRANX when i cash up abit. I hope this helps some Last edited by Partizan Fk; 21-04-2015 at 10:50 PM. |

Yamaga or Ripple Fisher should have a nice 40lb stick for you... I run my 5000s on a Samurai 702 (25-40lb) and its my favourite by a mile, and we have been through many sticks over the years . They have since been replaced by other models so you probably won't be able to find one. The newer models have a 25-40lb one amongst them.
Never really looked at much else. Had plenty of sticks in 17lb, 25lb etc but the 40lb is the best I have come across. There is also a Smith KGS PE 4 stick that is 6'6" that Luke has used for some seriously good fish up north, good sized Sambos, Trout etc all mainly on stick baits as well. cheers
