Cheap light set up.

Hi guys,

As I had mentioned in my introduction I have fished bass tournaments in the last 12-18 months and with that I have a few nice rods in the 2-4kg, 6'6"-7' range in spin an baitcaster types. Around 6 months ago I decided to go left handed retrieve with reels as I couldnt impart action in the rod for walk the dog or shaking the rod tip, so all my rods for tournaments got converted or swapped over. Anyway I have had small light rods for bream but they were very elcheapo or old hand me downs used for bait. So as I am heading to Nambucca next week I wanted to get something really light that is nice quality bit wouldnt break the bank.

I went to my local tackle shop and looked around, i was thinking $80-$100, not much but its more for a bit of fun than anything else, I looked around a bit and only found one that fit the description, I started to think my budget would blow out, until the staff, who I know well told me not to go past the rod as for its price its very good. So on them telling me about it and their enthusiasm for me taking on bream and telling me all these spots to try around SE Qld I got this little thing set up with some 6lb PE (i swear it gets thinner every time I respool)

Its a Rovex Air Strike Advance 6' 2-4kg with a 1000 reel. Seems really light though more like a 1-3kg rod. It was $100 with a spool of braid all up so I hope it goes well for a play rod.

Will do, it seems like a good little starter, budget and/or basher setup.

Ive got a rovex air strike baitcast rod and reel, and caught heaps of sooty grunter, salmon tailed catties, eel tailed catties, yellow belly, carp and a few small cod on it. Had it for 2-3 years and the reel DohDohDohDoh itself not long ago but the rod is going great.
