Daiwa Battler "Hot Dog" impressions?

Looking at getting the Daiwa Battler Hot Dog and I was wondering if any owners would like to share their views on this rod? Would a Stella 4000 suit this rod? looking at throwing larger lures on this rod.

Cheers

I owned a Steez Hotdog for many years and (now) regrettably sold it. It feather light, with a softish tip and could cast a 28gm lure out of sight. I used it for snapper and threadies in the river, and on one trip to target wahoo from a small boat and shore on Vanuatu.

In all cases the stick was more than enough to handle the fish and it really never got down to the lower power end of the rod.

I moved it on as at seven foot one piece, it became a little cumbersome to take with me. I decided to go down a tad and bought a slightly softer rated GLX, which BTW I love and it versatile to work larger lures for bass. Still deals with our local snapper and thready populations quite easily.

I've got the Power Junkie which I prefer over the heavier Hot Dog. Still has heaps of grunt and better for working smaller plastics and stickbaits. It just comes down to what you want to use it for. I have mine paired with a '16 Certate 3012H and its a ripper outfit.

Do you own the AGS Hot Dog as well? Is the tip of the rod essentially the same as the Power Junkie?

Power Junkie has a lighter tip than the Hot Dog.

I don't own a Hot Dog, but I've had a play with one and the tip is a little stiffer than the Power Junkie. The Hot Dog is a very stiff rod with a lot of power in the lower half.

Alot of differences mate. 2 completely different rods. Ags guides compared to normal guides. Weight, action. Battler being twice the price

I have the black label atm and its a nice rod. Matches well with a 4000 shimano or 3000 daiwa. Can get a black label and a reel for the price of a battler.

Feels completelu different due to the guides. The blank reacts differently with the ags guides as it does eith normal fujis due to the weight of them. Ags guides feel alot more crisp.. and if you cant tie good slim knots. Such as fg knot learn how to before buying a ags guided rod. Especially the heavier models as youll be using heavier leader. And bulky knots have and will break the guides

Blakc label has a a fantastic tip for treble hook equiped lures. Has enough give to avoid pulled hooks.. also has plenty og backbone to sink in a big singoe hook when striking. Very nice rod over all. Rated to 1oz (28gms) have vertical jigged with 35gm vibes in 21 mwtres of water and it wasnt folding away to badly
