How to join 14lb Fireline to 10lb Sunline? What knot?
Hey all I picked up a 150m spool of Sunline Super PE to top up my spool of 14lb Berkley Fireline. The top bit of fireline on the spool has gotten worn so I'm going to cut a fair bit off (about half a spool should be enough I reckon to fit all the Sunline on) and top it up with Sunline Super PE. What knot should I use to join the two lines? I gather is a bit different to joining braid to mono. Cheers, Jim.

I youtubed it and found a video by a japanese guy its a 4xsurgeons knot he called it. It seems legit, so I tied it, pulled pretty hard (as hard as I could without cutting myself) and it didnt even slip. But thanks for the quick replies guys, thats what makes me prefer this forum to any of the others.

Try a Kaneit knot. It's all I use. It is a very simple knot.

Wow, no 2 replies suggesting the same knot! Better keep it up i guess. At those diameters of line i like the alberto knot. Very strong and slim.

I use a modified, modified albright. After making the loop in the heavier line I wind up about 15 - 20 times and then wind down. Go through the loop (same direction as when you started), moisten and tighten. I then put a dab of Zap glue on it.
Has never failed. I use it on leaders too.
