Braid for Stradic
Hi, I am looking for a braid for my Stradic ci4+ 3000 to use on bass, Mangrove Jack and Barra (just for fun). I have been looking at buying a 300m spool of sun line super pe 10lb but any suggestions would be appreciated.

How deep are your pockets?
Mine are fairly shallow lol i like the super pe and Fireline Exceed. Most of my reels have the exceed. I have also a reel with power pro which im yet to try out. |

I have a 2500 Stradic FJ with one spool of 4lbs Finns and another spool of 10lbs Sufix 832 which I use to target Jacks, Barramundi and Sooty Grunter (similar to Bass). I love the Sufix though.

Those species, I can imagine they'd be targeted around snags. Personally I'd go a spinning fluoro of 4 or 5lb. As for a braid, castaway is somewhat more abrasion resistant to me. Buy a 150m spool and topshot with half of it. Plenty for those snag dwelling fish.

Off topic, but I remember I time I had a spool of Small Game FC mainline in #0.5 (1.5lb) for bream. In that period that I used it my hookups were tripled compared to braid/4lb leader. However landing fish was a skill itself.

The last thing I'd use is anything starting with F and ending in ins. There's a reason 6lb Fins breaks at 18lb. It's 18 lb! Sunline Super PE takes some beating in the 8lb, Tasline SAS probably does beat it though. As others say, if you want to spend more for the likes of Unitika then you can but I don't reckon it's any better.

May as well go and drop a $20 note in front of the snag instead.... Teeth and gill rakes don't tend to fair that well with that poundage.

Personally, I like the extra difficultly of lighter line. Makes an actual catch to be more challenging and rewarding. Things like the knot, cast and fight require the extra effort. Essentially making you a better angler. Also, wouldn't 4 or 5lb fluorocarbon sound more interesting than 12-15lb braid in a story or report? It would to me.
