Yo-zuri Pin's minnow

Has anybody ever use it? it looks a lot like baitfish and looks a good bream lure, why hardly anybody use it? is it probably cos it dives to shallow?

Hey guys, I've used it, it really looks like a baitfish.! It does not dive low though and is pretty light so i guess applications for it would be limited to when the fish are hitting baitfish on the surface..

I did catch a really tiny flathead right at my feet with it but i am thinking it may not be sinking to the right depth if the bream are feeding on the bottom..

I did get some awesome small tailor action on it lol but that was at a bridge jetty where i didnt have to cast far. All the tailor were undersized too..

I have a few, there OK. like previously said they run very shallow.
I think they're one of those lures with very limited application. Probably good if you find bream on very shallow flats, or for fish that hunt on the surface layer, but not really a general purpose or prospecting lure.
Its one of those lures I keep in the box cos I'm sure one day I'll get caught in a situation where they are the ideal lure for a specific application. I wouldn't rush out and buy them if I was setting up from scratch. There are a lot better general use bream lures around (even cheapies).
On a purely technical level, they appear to be of typical Yo-zuri quality, ie good finish well built, but light rings and hooks. Tip, with slightly heavier grade hooks (size 12 VMC 2xstrong for eg) they suspend very well instead of float, which is handy on a slow retirieve.
hope this helps

Works great for me.... try it when the bream are feeding under boats, etc. definitely shallow water or top (or close to) application

Yeah Moored boats, or even those floating jetty things. But I'd definatly recomend the hook changes to get them suspending.

Something different than SP for moored boats, a bit more challenging....

Changing hooks on the pin minnows: just make sure that they are balanced... these suckers are so light, removing the middle hooks change they way the swin dramatically... so just be careful and test first.........

great trout lure

awesome trout lure when the fish are on galaxids or smelt etc.

Not that good on bream though They need a fair old speed to swim optimally.
Those poeple that have actually! used them will know they slightly resemble a stick being pulled through the water, even with rod tip action they are still too fast a lure!

As Angry said there are much better bream lures around,
but hey, buy one and try it for your self!

I like the look of the gold one. Looks the goods to me. Would be good around really weedy areas where other lure pick up heaps of salad off the bottom.
