Hi to all - the name is Jeff, a retired diesel mechanic.

A couple of years back I was giving the threadfin salmon a workout on light gear with soft plastics at Carmilla Beach (south of Mackay) and to my surprise, I landed a decent bream - the first bream I had caught since I was a kid mainly because I never fished for them.

I am now a bream fishing fool - Shimano Stradic 2500FJ loaded with 5 kg Sunline mounted on a Shimano TK3G702XL 2-5kg rod. It's a great combo, but I've got one major problem - the nearest saltwater is just over 400 kms away and I only get the chance a couple of times a year to go for bream.

I think I'm going to learn a lot from all you gurus.

Thanks for the welcome Sexton.

I've been a keen fisho for near on 60 years, but I'm still learning and with all the new gear & innovations entering the market these days, it's hard to sort out the good from the bad.

The fishing tackle industry seems to have taken great technological leaps in recent years and I often wonder if we, the fishos, have become targets of a very cunning & well orchestrated strategy of the tackle manufacturers.
