Rarenium FB

Anyone got their hands on one of the new Shimano Rarenium FB's yet?
Just wondering how you rate it?
I'm keen on a 2500 but thinking of a JDM 2500S with the shallow spool for hards and 3lb FC.

$300 and huge drag/capacity.

After seeing that price and configuration I ordered a complex ci4+ 2500s for $260.

On another note they have included a 3000s model (which seems a strange choice) but does have a shallower spool (just) than the 2500. It still has 9kg of drag which is more in bass territory but it's now the shallowest shimano in the "2500" size you can buy from shimano aus I think.

I had a JDM Ci4+ in the past, they're the kind of reels where you have to break them in to get them to their best. The reel was smooth, quiet and caught heaps of fish. Way too light though felt like nothing and was one of the reasons why I let it go. Great during winter though, Carbon-plastic insulates your hand pretty well.

At that price, no thanks. I would rather parallel import.

Yeah 9kg of drag is ridiculous for this style of reel but the 2500s does have 4kg.
The Complex Ci4 looks like a far better reel for the cash on paper. I might just grab one of these. Thanks for your input.

All my bream reels weigh around 200g give or take an ounce. Light reels suit the way I hold a rod. With 2 fingers either side of the stem and an aero reel seat 200g feels about right to me.

No problem. Yeah it's pretty much a rarenium with two bearings in the handle and two in the spool so it probably won't wind much differently but the drag is as high spec as it gets for this price. If you decide to get one you can get f4 (super shallow) or f6 (closer to s) and there is a high gear option as well. All with 4kg.

Happy shopping

Just ordered a Complex 5:1 f4. Thanks again for your help.

Yeah mine was ratuken too. Arrived in a week. Felt a bit dodgy because of the broken English description including 'inferiority complex'! But product is perfect. Do note that these bad boys really are shallow. Go for the f6 if you like to use a bit of backing or use heavier braid.

I note digitaka are selling these now (along with a lot of the shimano line, including one of my fav's the exsence), however the picture appears to be of a CI4 model that I own. There was another complex witha similar look once again, but wasn't CI4 or + for that matter and was apparently a damn nice reel too:
