Anyone still using an Egrell rod?

Hi guys... Gotta love my egrell rods...

I have a

s2 / certate 2500 8lb braid
s2 bear - backup rod
s10 on a morethan branzino 3000. 20lb braid
Egrell bear essential - saltiga 4500, 50lb braid


Im thinking of replacing all my guides on my s10 which is the most I use. Getting a bit rusty from years of use.. Question is to keep alps guides or go with new fujis? I'm landbased for the moment, I'd like to keep the same sizes of what eric had when he made them though... Hmmm

So anyone else out there fishing with an egrell rod? Hands down best rods ive come accross especially the s10 which can cast a 1gram lure all the way up to 30g perfectly. It's my goto jew sp outfit for the rivers. Which i use weekly.

Rumour has it when eric stopped making them all his rods have a patent pending. The blanks are CTS. Who knows what model CTS they are but damn I'd love to know. I'd probly cry if I broke it, cant find a rod like it anywhere.

I use a bear s10h, and yeah sick rod. I could never part with it. Got a stella 4000sw sitting on it.
Love the thick moulded type cork grips

Have looked at replacing any guides, theyre still in good order
They're a solid rod

I cant confirm, but eric may be rod building again, i'm not sure

Awesome... wish I never sold my s10h.. would of been an awesome jew hardbody rod... the s10 is too light for it.... I goto the bear alrounder with the 4500 for big hardbodies.... bit overkill though lol...

where did you hear about him making rods again? that would be awesome... definatley going to add to my collection if he is... Hope his wife is ok.

not too sure what guides im going to be replacing with... whats the best on the market out there at the moment?

Very nice soft plastic rods indeed. Eric has over the past several months been finishing off the blanks he had intended to keep himself. There were a few off all models going to good homes. I spoke with him several months ago and they were moving quite quick.

Why not replace with the Alps as Eric used. Fairly certain these are all available.

on another note... would anyone know the exact blank the BLUE s10 model is? the one everyone raves about....

Pretty sure he did have a patent pending on the blanks and cant be found.. correct me if im wrong...

What I was told a week ago (by someone having a rod made up by Eric as we speak) is that Eric was using up the last couple of blanks he had as rods for those he's close to ie friends and family, and that he's not planning on going back into the building business at the moment anyway

I did a bit of research after reading this thread about the s10 on the net and it does sound like a great heavy soft plastics rod. Came across this article http://www.fishingmonthly.com.au/Art...-Soft-Plastics and the author thinks the s10 is THE rod for this style of fishing. What I found interesting was in the Rods section this bit:

When comparing rods look first for the power in the butt, then do the shake test. If the tip doesn’t shake such that it can impart action to the lure without you having to lift the rod then you’ll catch less fish.

Can anyone explain why having a whippy tip for soft plastics is better? I have always thought that the opposite was true.
