Open Lakes or upstream snags?

G'day guys, I've got a full weekend to myself and plan to hit Mallacoota.
I'm only in a hobie so covering large distances of water searching for fish is a drama as usual

As a general rules for this time of year would you hit the open lakes or get up in the rivers and snags??

Any feedback or conversation much appreciated!

Hit open water in Top and bottom lakes. I am sure there will be some resident fish in the snags but this time of the year they tend to be deeper in bigger schools.

Cheers Alex! I've cleaned up way up the system in August before but never really given it a crack in july
