Upstream Canning

Hi
I went for a quick bream flick in the Canning near my house at 7am this morning. There was mullet everywhere and bream too. First cast, straight away a 30cm bream, second cast a 36cm bream and third cast I lost one. Thats the first time ive hooked 3 bream in 3 casts. I wasnt really expecting it but it was fun. I ended up catching 4 bream in under 5 minutes. I stayed for another hour or so and I caught another 10, the biggest being 38cm. All fish were caught on bass minnows except for two which I caught on an orange Yo-Zuri snap shad. I had a big bream hit my hb when it was going across the surface because the line was tangled with the treble. I recon the bream would of been around the 2kg mark. The fin came out of the water and SH!T it was big! I also saw a mulla or somthing hitting mullet on the surface. I tried a r2s for the mulla or a big bream but the fish werent intrested.

Daniel

I wonder if it has anyting to with the weather at the moment. Good to see an early morning start is rewarded.

yeah i live on kent street

the rain influenced the fish a lot i think
it washed heaps of algae and stuff downstream and the mullet are feeding on it and the bream are feeding on the mullet and my lures

well done

G'day Daniel. Brownie and I went up the Canning to Kent St. weir last Monday, plenty of mullet around and only a few bream, couldn't entice one to hit any hard body or softie. We are going back next week though, plenty of good snags and they must be holding fish...sounds like you had a great day out, well done... Nifty
