Matching fluro to braid

Gday,

Just wondering what's the limit regarding braid sizing to fluro leader sizing? Ive got 2lb fireline spooled up, would putting 6lb on as leader be too big? Is there a limit? Could I use 8lb or 10lb if need be?

I don't see why not.
If your fireline doesn't cut through your leader at the knot and the size of your knot runs through the guides OK, it should be good.

Have run 3lb nanofil to 6lb fluro many a time as previously said the leader knot needs to be spot on... have lost a few lures to knots catching when I first went down to 3lb ... throwing them at night or first light means they r pretty hard to find. .. but anyways taught my self fg since and never had any trouble....

I've often run 3lb fireline with a 6lb leader and a 6lb fireline with a 12lb leader, never had any drama's.

Thanks for the reply guys, just for something to do had a go tying 12lb to 2lb, and though I'd probably never go that high unless I'm in racks (and I hardly am), still ended up with a very stong and tidy knot in the end, so looks like I'm all good!

I wanted to up to 6lb and see how I go, mainly to have a chance against the odd flatty, seems that shouldn't be an issue

I use 2lb fireline crystal on my 1000fj stradic and have gone as far as to use 10lb vanish for leader to feel safe in some scenario, but as a usual I use 6lb and spend good time tieing a good connection knot.

biggest issues of going too heavy a leader is the proportional knot size that goes through microguides; casting can be greatly affected!
