Luvias 2004H.. Anyone with a review?
Hey guys,
I know the technical differences between a 2004 and 2004h but can anyone enlighten me on the practicalities of using one? Is the faster line retrieve annoying, less preferable to a slower one? |

I have the Luvi 2004H - i use it for blades / vibes helps keep in contact with the lure....you can still do that with a non high gear reel. just wind faster...i guess its a personal preference thing.

I have both high speed and normal speed...personally I like both and very little in speed you will notice. Normal speed are great for lures/hard body/sp. the high speed are great for blades/ and anything faster retrieval. I had the same dilemma before...instead of tossing the coin, I just get both...

I've read that slower ratio reels get your diving lures deeper and faster reels help to get rid of slack easier when fishing topwater.
Is it true that high geared reels don't last as long as slower geared reels? Last edited by MiSCrEANT; 03-04-2014 at 06:02 AM. |

I have a couple of Certates 2004CHs, I bought them as the line retrieval is closer to using a 2500 series reels so handle speed is easier to get use to when you switch rods over.
Tournament fishing it's good to have a few rods with different lures so as to keep lures in the water as much as possible. |

Don't ask me I don't even know the line retrieval amount, bit I got mine for fishing racks so I can crank the silver little DohDohDohDohers to the boat quicker.

to be honest.. Im asking cause the they seem to be the only 2004's left on the Jap shop shelves? Thought something was wrong with them. It would mainly be for topwater application and I would use the sol i have for placcies and hards.
I really like the old luvias DA Customs but they seem a bit hard to find or people want almost as much money for a second hand DA then a new luvi from Japan so Ive been looking at the new model instead.. Last edited by smackmaa; 04-04-2014 at 06:29 PM. |

I prefer the high gear ratios in any size reel for most applications. I find it suits my style of fishing more and being able to retrieve slack line quicker is a huge bonus in my books. When fishing crankbaits where theres not so much slack its not a big deal, but plastics, squid jigs, vibes etc, high gear is where its at, even surface.

The reason there is no 2004 size luvis available is simply because they sell out quickly and Daiwa can't keep up with damand due to its popularity. I have a 2004H luvi and honestly I don't think it makes all that much difference. You want a slower retrieve, simply wind slower!

Exactly, i have a 2004H and i dont even notice the difference between the normal 2004 and the 2004H
it doesnt affect the way you work lures or anything
