Does anyone else have problems with braid getting wrapped around and in recoil guides when casting, its starting to really p--- me off and how do you rectify the problem without replacing the rod or all the recoil guides?

I have been using Megabass Dragon Call (12lb)for the last 3 months without a problem also you don't hear the braid going through the recoils, silent as.
Samurai tackle have it on special at the moment.

Hey mate I used to stick to semi fused lines like powerpro, I loved the white 3lb and it was on a 1000 Shimano great combo that one!
The softer true braids are more of a drama.
Use a well trimmed Albright kanelt or slim beauty knot with a leader that doesn't quite wind onto the spool.
Worked for me
Matt

From time to time on the stripper guide on my TSR if my leader knot is to big and catches. This generally only occurs when I am using 10lb leader which is not very often. Worth searching the Rods section as there have been articles re replacing the stripper guide as a way of removing this problem. Good luck with your solution. Regards, HBt.

Haven't had it happen for a long time to me
Most commonly occurred for me
Casting in to head winds.
Best solutions I found where to
Insure your tags are trimmed as close
As possible and add some extra turns into
Your join to make the knot a bit longer.
Also run a slightly heavier main line .

i have a DSR GLX and don't get too many knots. I noticed i'd get them more frequently if i was using a heavier leader, or if the leader was still on the spool when casting.

Run flurocarbon straight through on this rod and use another rod for your braid.

I have a couple of Duffs with recoil infills and used to have a bit of trouble with long leaders and a double uni knot. A couple of years back I switched to a slim beauty and have not had a problem since, no matter how long the leader or what type of braid I'm using.

I only ever had this problem with a 4 pound braid getting wrapped around the recoil tip guide of a breambuster I owned. With heavier braids I never had any problems.

If you are going to use long leaders with recoils use a slim beauty knot.

Recoils do not like big leader knots, combine that with a long leader and you will have trouble all day.

Any of my rods that are made for heavy leaders do not have recoils for the first few guides or have no recoils at all. Big fan of the AGS guides, not 100% on how they are going to wear.
