Angry so i SNAPPED im'.....

Yesterday I was at freo fishin' off the train bridge and I hooked on to this 50cm mullet on a rapala ...... lure which is about 70mm and I was doin everythin right until at the end of the fight whe i reached forward to grab the line and it snapped 1/3 between the connection of the two piece and the tip. It was an abu 'morrum braid collection' 1-3kg. I had trouble with it before when I didnt do anything wrong so i am going to steer clear of that. overall it wasnt a bad rod because I was catching spanglies at coral bay a smidgeon under 60cm. so now im in the market for a new rod

Has anybody got any suggestions for a rod with durability but of lowish-medium $$$ I would like a hb rod rather than a sp rod but please put in all suggestions anyway.

cheers luke

The Struddy SicStik is an excellent cheap rod.

I've played with a few and they seem to be pretty well made.

spot on! swoffa

I got a struddy sic stick around a month ago. I like the flexibility it has without the floppyness some 7 footers have. It's a shame they don't put a hook keeper on them.

i rekon go for either, a shimano raider at about $150, or the previously mentioned sicstick for about $160, i have a 2 peice 6'8'' rack raider and i love it for fishing hb's on the flats, but go and have a look at both of them and put your reel on the rod.

cheers, brody

ouch......

never grab the line when you pull a fish up, try to grab the fish in all possible cases. man its never good to snap a fishing rod for small matter, was it in front of people?
