Merimbula flathead?

Hi guys.
I am up staying In merimbula for the next week and chasing some solid flathead. I have access to a pro angler but unfortunately no boat. I'm happy to travel to wherever gives the best chance. Eg bega, wonboyn. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Top lake in 'Bula been fishing well in 6m for Lizards, old man has reported quite a few decent Flathead with some monsters being lost boat side. Guess its one peril of bringing larger fish up from depth as opposed to shallow runs.

Bega river is also a good spot for the biggies, but I saw on hear last week someone had mapped out the sand spires on Top lake, maybe peep that thread?

G'day mate I live in Merimbula and it is fishing very well for flatties, I've fished it 4 times in the new year now out of my kayak for a few flatties each time.
I took yak_Hak another member out a few weeks ago look up his report we got some good bream too.
The flatties I've caught have been up to 50cm so no crackers but a few at least.
Fish drop offs and weed edges in top lake with squidgies, any depth I don't think it matters much.
Sing out if you want a kayak session this weekend I may be able to squeeze one in!
I can't help much with wonboyne but Bega river is good around the front lately up to the first bend, we got some great ep there 2 weeks ago.
Cheers

Womboyn, I find the general area from what they call red rocks back to the bend towards the lake tends to be a great general area.

Cheers mate.
I unfortunately didn't get time to head down to wonboyn I definitely will next time though.

I didn;t crack the flatty that i wanted and it was really windy during the middle of most days which made it difficult fishing out of the yak.

Still managed to get plenty of flatty's however the biggest was only 51cm. I had a good afternoon on the surface whiting though which was great fun. Thanks again for your help guys

Stuart Hindson (Aussie fish Estuary Adventures) landed 2 I know of over 90cm last week in the Merimbula area. Add him as a friend on facebook and you'll see them on his posts. I've been out with him on a guided session on Wonboyn Lake and learnt plenty - maybe give him a go next time?
