betts boat size requirements

Can any body tell me why bets tournament boat entry size is friging 3.7m long with recommended minimum 20 hp motor they quote that it must be able to plane with 2 guys up and a 60l livewell..
I have a 3.59 proline stacer with a 15hp yammy carrying 2 blokes a full floor( skeeter style),elec, 105ah battery with a 48litre tank and it not only planes but gets moving quite well so if I was to change the 48lt well to a 60lt well I m sure it wont hurt my performance so why the hell cant I enter????? feeling very frustrated...

with the designs of new boats these days this boat would out perform a 4m older deep v boat with all the gear needed for a comp.

Maybe try send an email to the organiser if you have not done so already. Not sure about the bets venues but in the mandurah rounds, crossing the estuary has been closed to all boats due to the possible winds that could blow up during the day. Even though some boats would still have no problem, crossing it's closed to all as you can't just exclude some boats from crossing and not others so allowing even smaller boats in the field regardless of the speed or performance it can become an insurance problem or could mean large areas being closed down for even mild wind condition.

I am sure they would look at the boats plate. It even says that if in doubt demonstration will have to be done WTF? I have emailed them and of course I got no response. maybe just maybe they should take each entry if in doubt and decide after a demonstration... I gues they miss out on my entry fee.

Really?
what if he had an accident due to an underpowered engine? Would you like to be in the shoes of a tourny organiser? Cheating just to get in? It would be much easier to borrow a compliant boat if you are really desperate.

The rules are there for reason

Not sure how the boat is under powered as stated will out perform a 4m deep vee tinny which is allowed. It is within weight compliance of hull. It is a new design boat,it does plane easily and goes well.

My mate has a 385 explorer with a 30hp Honda and mine is only just behind him,his motor is 3 times as heavy he runs two batteries, elecy and he is twice my weight . It's a crock of .......

Sometimes it gets a bit un-easy in a 4.35m tinny sitting in the wake of all the bass boats. Couldn't imagine what a 3.5m tinny would be like

Besides, a guy fished a tournament just recently, I think he had a 3.7m tinny. Cracked his hull on a cruiser wake! The rules are there for a reason.

If i read your first post correctly you said your boat has a 15HP engine but the minimum required is 20hp. So what part of 'underpowered' you don't understand?
The performance of your boat is only based on your subjective opinion. Take this issue with the tourny organisers if you have any doubts. Otherwise get a bigger boat.

Have to agree with Alex it would probably take one major incident to wreck it for those complying with the rules , the takeoff on comp day is usually like a washing machine it's safer to have a bit of hull size around you not to forget wind on open water .

This is one of the reasons why I don't enter tournaments, too many rules. I have too many rules already in my life without adding to them unnecessarily. I'm not disputing that rules are probably necessary in tournaments and that they should probably be observed. Personally, I just steer clear of situations where I'm told what I can and can't do. Each to their own though, I suppose.

He says in the first post the motor size is recommended, not mandatory, only the boat length is mandatory, with a bowsprite welded on the boat is legally longer, and complies.
