Daiwa Drunkmonkie vs ItchyTwitchy for HB/SP tournies
Hi Guys,
New to the forum. Only just started chasing Bream on SP/Cranks over the last year. I currently have a 2500 stradic on a 2-5kg raider. But I am looking for a new rod to be my main bream rod and I'm looking at the Daiwa Gen Blacks. I am not sure which model to go for, the purpose will be for local tournaments using 2500 Daiwa aird paired with 4lb straight through fluro, cranking, surface and soft plastics. GB 6102ULFS Two Drunkmonkies Spin 2 208cm Ultra Light Fast 0.5 – 4g 1 – 2kg or GB 6102LFS Itchy Twitchy II Spin 2 208cm Light Fast 1 – 5g 1.5 – 3kg Any tips/advice would be great. Cheers Matt |

I have the Itchy Twitchy, they are great rods, ive caught bream, flathead, trevally and pinkies on them, i would def go for the 1-3 rather than the 1-2 kg rod, also dont forget they have micro guides (but since your using traight through fluoro it shouldnt be a problem)

Hmm tough choice, I'll have to have a play with both in store somewhere to decide perhaps.
Thanks for the feedback, that bream is a horse. |

I have an itchy. Great all rounder and great for sp's and cranks.
The DM is a better rod for straight through and cranks. It has a better action and is underrated. I have borrowed a mates and loved it. I only got the itchy because I also chase bass. I'm gonna get a DM for bream , whiting and trout

I have both, and they are both amazing!! For fluro straight through I would definitely recommend the drunkmonkey, as it is a lot softer, but still very fast! great rod for plastics and light hardbodies!
But in saying that, the itchy twitchy is still a great rod! perfect for vibing, heavier top waters such as bent minnows, sammy's and so on, and also great for heavier jig heads in deeper, faster flowing water and have a fair bit more in the butt section, but for fluro straight through, I would definitely recommend the drunk monkey! How does it go stopping the bigger fish? And what size Caldia is on there?

Haven't had it long but the biggest fish caught are the two in the pics. the bream was just over 40cm and the barra was probably around the 50 mark, the rod handled them no probs. The Caldia is a 2000 with 6lb super PE balances out quite nicely.
