It's all personal preference mate - but I think hards are more fun!

When hards aren't working for me I try plastics and vice versa. Until today though I really struggled with plastics and I'm still most comfortable with a micro vibe..... problem is it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy ... you always tie on the lure that you feel gets you fish and then surprise surprise that stays your most successful lure because you hardly try anything else.

I much prefer hards, a lot more interactive IMO, but sometimes a very lightly weighted plastic is the only thing that will get the fish.

Hards for me because it seems much easier to catch bream on them.
Plastics involves a lot of rod movement, while hards it's just barely moving the handle.

Just my experience

Sometimes when the fish r holding tight and i need to keep something in their nose i find placcies seem to work best for me but i do perfer flicking hards.

I rather placcies and hards over fishing blades (although i technically think vibes are hards)

Hards followed by hards followed by hards followed by hards and then plastics.

It all depends on the area you fish, terrain, depth, whether fish are holding on surface or deep, fishing landbased or from the boat/yak, etc.

Example: you won't be fishing an Atomic mid or deep or an SX40 or similar in 3-5metres of water unless you are fishing snags. Plastics here are your best bet or vibes/bladed lures.

On shallow flats you'd be better off fishing shallow running hards than plastics (not always true however).

There is no simple answer, you need to work it out yourself by getting out and trying various techniques and making a mental note when and how you caught a particular fish.
And remember: with bream-every day is different. You may catch a fish or two on the micro one day, next day comes, they don't even want to look at it.

Just ask Sloth

Oh and the other consideration if you're new to the sport ... You won't cry if you lose a jighead and a plastic ... Unlike when you wrap a brand new micro around a pylon on its third cast.

You need to have both on board plastics and hards that why most of the bm members like myself carry 6 rods on the boat rigged with plastics and hards.

Plastics are definately more versatile, you can fish a variety depths and terrain with plastic which you can't with plastics. I will always throw plastics first than hards, however throwing hards are more fun, but with that said skipping plastics in tight structure is also very engaging.

They each have there place and every person is different.

I get more satisfaction out of hardbodies because I initially struggled with them. And I find the little coloured pieces of plastic and wire quite intriguing - well so the outsized collection of the pricey little things I have acquired over a few years says.

Can't beat plastics for satisfaction, versatility and price. Hards however are usually way more fun though, they look cooler, can feel the action and are addictive as hell. Plus you can build a collection of really nice hardbodies, something you can't do with plastics.

Very true that last time I was at Nelson lost over $100 in vibes and hards snagging around trees
