Samurai 101 - 6lb braid

Hey there, after snapping my rod at the weekends tournament I have my eye on a Samurai 101 but was curious if I'd be ok running 6lb braid (2-4lb) leader through it? It will be matched with my 2500 Airity. Looking to use it for topwater mainly.

Thanks,
Luke

wouldn't worry about that, should be able to run heavier braid again. it's just how you use the rod, braid and reel together, ie don't have high drag settings because of the heavier line, don't bend the rod on itself trying to land a fish etc.

Put your airity 2500 on the rod and see how it would feel. I would have thought that a 2000 reel would be better on a 101 Samurai.
Check a 201 samurai with your reel fitted. you may like it better. Both are great rods, won't disappoint
cheers

yep i agree with alex^^ check out a 201, i have both the 201 and 101, i think a 2000 size reel would suite the 101 better and you will have no dramas casting 6 lb

Cheers,

Glenn.

I run a 2004 / 1500 on my 203 using 6lb braid with up to 8lb leader without any issues. Nice combinations. Good luck with your purchase. Regards, HBt.

Thanks for all the replies, my Airity is actually a 2000 size (duh!) and I'll hopefully be able to pick up one of these this afternoon!
