Kent st weir options

Hey all,

I've recently moved house to Bentley, and have been down to kent st weir in the Canning river with the missus for a picnic /recon mission to see if it had potential, it looks good to me, and obviously it's a known spot to fish.

I've had a look through the lure box and have rapala mini fat raps & laser pro 45s both in various colours, you guys reckon this would be with a shot?
I've used these with success around Claremont in the past, but if I should be using soft plastics or something else I'm keen to know! I've only seen folks using bait there.

Cheers,

Simon.

I dont normally go right down to the weir but I use primarily hards with no issues in that area.
Its a good local spot & some nice bits of river there.
Lots of cheaters in that area.....lol

Thanks for the info

I've never really used soft plastics, as the blowies would wreak havoc on them lower down the river, but if there's going to be a high attrition rate lure wise, I'll give it a go.

I'm thinking to follow the light rail line down the river a bit there, not so much at the weir itself, though would probably give that a go too.
Think I might head down after work tomorrow, I'll report back any success.

Use Zmans then you dont have to worry about blowies much.

Thanks for this info, I've had a look at their website - the 2.5" grubs look good. What jig heads would you recommend with these? As I said, never really used soft lures before ( and the only jigs I've used were buck tail ones for flatties ).

Bender, I agree that area doesn't look too promising, but I had a walk down the train line a bit further, looks like it could be ok...guess I'll find out.

its snag city the whole way along... i use the squidgee heads (1.5 gram round with size 2 hook) and i have not had any issue with them.... and before people start bagging - i have loads of TT jigs and mass amounts of gama's and nitros but the squidgees are $4.95 at kmart and you get 10
per pack so they are great for "disposables"
