Garage sale pick up

Well today is my last day of leave before heading back to work. I thought I would take the bike out for a spin. Due to some road work I was detoured into a bit of suburbia and passed a garage sale that had some rods out on display. I figured what the hell I'll stop and have a look see. The rods were not much chop but I did spot a Daiwa reel box.

I now own a Daiwa 50th anniversary zillion in a lovely red colour, "7.3:1 Hyper speed special edition" for the grand sum of $60.

Figured I may as well share it with you guys as the Mrs asked me what the hell do I need ANOTHER reel for.

Now I guess I have to match it to a new rod, any suggestions?

I have a Steve starling 6'6" barra squidgy rod sitting in the shed but it just does not seem right putting a TD reel on a Shimano rod.

That is a score mate, some folks would charge more to service it, let alone buy it.

Yep, ditch the starlo rod and do the reel justice. Megabass is an idea with the coin you saved

Alrighty all, I am now ready to take a serious look at a rod to match this. I have been looking at a TD Zillion rod but am very open to other Daiwa suggestions.

Does anyone think it would be odd to take the reel to my local store and trial fit it to a couple?

I think it would be odd if you didn't!
