Zipbait Zoea...fragile tail??

Hey All
Tied a new Zipbait Zoea this afternoon for the first time, they look the part thats for sure..
First cast under a moored boat,I just glanced the hull slightly..sweet I thought right on the money..
When I retrieved back to the Yak I noticed the tail was missingI couldn't believe such a slight impact could do this.
I was told by a employee in the local tackle store to be careful unhooking fish, avoiding holding the tail of the Zoea while doing this as they've been known to snap off..
Anybody else had dramas with the tails of these lures??I'm not one for DohDohDohDohDohing about a product but was shocked as its Zipbait..A quality lure maker..

Regards Andy

i used small side cutters to cut the fragile tail fins off mine the day i bought them to allow the rear treble to have more exposure.... and they worked fine.

Thats why the Tetra Duo Ebikko is a better lure. Much more durable apart from snagging up. Than thin tail section on the Zoe is uneccesary. They usually make good lures. Well done on the cacth anyway.

Zipbaits Magcast system is fragile as well. I've had three failures two hickorys and a rigge (all not heavily used), don't think I've had failures on any other lure with ther'ye cast assist mechanisms.
Cant Fault the action of the aforementioned lures just their durability especially considering their price.

Eat a snickers guys ....
I have a few zippies with failed msg drives and they cast and swim the same as when they were new.

And my zoes's work better without the fins because my hookup rate has doubled.

So they are fragile then, I think that was the point being made, thanks for confirming that.

I will ignore your normal usless comment ...

For the others - i posted to inform you that you actually get a better hookup rate without the tail fins . Mark is fully aware that they are a bit fragile and is looking at a stronger material to fix this.

I had a bream chew mine off so simply trimmed and gently filed them
smooth and the rear treble now has much more exposure .

lol, when the weight is stuck in the tail it points head up and wont swim at all.

so we pay for a fragile product that still cost as much as most expensive lures,,and we do the experimenting to find out how to make them stonger,,well that works well for the company,,don't have to pay for trial and research,,instead make money out of it..

Marks Response To The Fragile Tails -

Hyper Tackle on Thu Dec 19, 2013 10:37 am
Current order cancelled for reasons you've all mentioned and absolutely right, we'll try and see if we can get them right with ABS plastics so buy up what you can if the no tail doesn't bother you "not many came in". Some do hang in there never broke a tail when I tested them, broke a tail the other day on a snag but haven't broken any apart from that but always was a concern that tail may break.

In the whole 7 years I've been doing this really not too many returns "maybe because they are a lure and people can't be bothered"? but also feedback from sponsored anglers and also from me using them faults are very low, Mag-Drive does detach occasionally but very small percentage.
