Moving a reel seat.

Hey fellers.
I have a Berkeley pro tactic 2 to 4kg 6'10" and its my fave rod but the butt is way to short and I was going to get a rod builder to move the reel seat up by about 60 to 70mm so it fits in rod holders cause I'm always paranoid about dropping it over the side and it has a certate on it. Ouch.
My question is.
How hard is this to do and do you think it will ruin the performance of the rod.
Thank.

That's the thing.
I have bought a heap of rods and nothing feels like the pro tactic.
For me it's the perfect rod for fishing pinkies and what ever else swims around from black rock to mordialoc.

surely there must be something out there? I have no idea what they feel like, but I have heard they are excellent rods, and very underrated.

The closest i have would be the phluger patriarch which is a beautiful rod but it just doesn't have the strength in the back bone for the bigger fish.

Will be easier if you buy a carbon tube and do the extension behind the reel seat. Cut offf the old eva/cork and put new one on the new tube.

Thanks buddy.
It would probably be a nice rod if it where 60mm longer.

Any one know a decent rod builder around south eastern area.
Thanks.

You do not need a rod builder. You need a new tube to fit over your blank, rear grip, epoxy and probably some metal rings to make the transition looks nicer. And a saw

It's not that hard a process to do! I shortened a rod and then 6 years re lengthened it with the piece I cut off it.

Gozz pm me and I will walk u through it - simple to fix a rod u love!

Wouldn't touch the rod Mate. I would look at getting a new rod holder, one that locks the rod in. Cheaper too I reckon.

Thanks guys.

Here is a pic of the rod.

You can see how short it is but I cant imagine it being hard for a professional.
Thanks for the offer Slazmo but I just don't have the time to do the job my self.

You could do a additional cork join with a ring as IMO said
Or even a spilt butt addition into the blank rear with a ring to finish off the old cork end.

Thanks mate.
Yeah I was thinking the split butt also, he can half the rear cork and just add a piece of new rod between the two, I'm really not fussed what colour the new bit is.
I think the rod being a little longer in the butt might balance it a bit better with the heavy certate on it.
