Shimano chronarch E7
Hi all, I know it's not a bream reel, but I wanted some feedback on this reel.
I was at the DohDohDoh members night with 25% off all fishing gear and they allowed me to lay by one of these with the discount. I plan on using for jacks and barra. I have paired in up with a nice 6-10kg rod. I saved $80 on the reel by lay buying it last night so I couldn't leave it behind. |

I have not long moved back to dbay hence I haven't fished it much. I actually have had some luck land based at a night high tide with strip chicken breast bait for a few nice bream and whiting. Going to explore around the dpi mangroves and into burpengary creek hopefully soon.

I just cant believe that they threw 25% off their entire fishing range - all that after I bought a whole fleet of reels late last and early this year...
![]() Anyhow you live and learn. Some great bargains to be had!!! P.s. the Chronarch Ci4 over the Curado G7 any day! But if you could pick up the older E series in good knick I would get that instead. Last edited by SLAZMO; 14-11-2013 at 05:49 AM. |

To my understanding they do the members night once a year, just not be same time every year.

Yeh but that 25% off fishing has only happened once since I've been a member - since 2007...

The chronarch e6 is my main cod reel.
In short it is O.K. Has a tendancy to get grit in it quite easily, so clean it very reguarly, probably every trip for SW. The casting in mine started going downhill after a bit over a year, but if you get the boca full ceramic bearing kit it will literally feel 10x better. Drag is reasonably smooth but at 5kg make sure you get your thumb on it quick for those jacks. Another tip is once you start casting a bit better (assuming you dont already) take out three of the vbs pins and it will feel smoother. (eg. I run one pink pin engaged, and two in the unengaged position to keep it balanced. The other three just pull out of the reel). Be careful around the levelwind pawl too. Mine broke in 3 months but shimano had it fixed and back to me within a week |

Could be wrong as I don't have it in possession yet but I thought the one I'm getting is 7kg drag and 7.0 to 1

Unless they have recently changed it, all ratios come with 5kg of drag. Even the New ci4 chronarch

That's on the G series - mind you carbon drag washers change that...
