Shimano Aspire opinions?

Anyone had any experience with these reels.
Had a look through some old threads but theres not much on them at all.

I'm looking at getting one in the Aspire 1000 FA size.
I know its a old reel but want it as a back up reel to my Biomaster 1000 FB.

What's there equivalence to todays reel? If any.

they feel solid.
i don't have other shimano to compare it to such as soare fireblood
but i have a jdm twinpower mg 1000fc and its like a minitank in comparison
I think I like mine better than my blue luvias 2000.
I have a spare spool for my current one
so ive got another complete reel in the post

i have one on a loomis dsr820 glx and a st Croix 2-4kg is waiting the other one

1000fa is old model a newer model one can be bought new i think

They were just beneath the Stella when they were released in 2006. Never owned one but they sound like a quality reel.

I'd be able to tell you exactly if I had my old catalogues with me. Drag capacity was the only thing I couldn't find. At a guess it would be between 3-5kg, probably closer to 3. Plenty for a 1000 size.

4lb - 150 yds
0.2mm - 130m
5.0:1 gear ratio
8+1 bearings
206g

If you really need to know give shimano aust. an email.

2kg at a guess
I think theyre 205 grams
I think carbon tex drags too I haven't looked
mine dealt with 2kg of east coast salmon side hooked and swimming sideways pretty easy- 10 minutes dragging though

no, I have a biomaster already. The aspire I was looking at buying, has been sold so no go now. Unless another pops up.
I was after a higher gear ratio anyway. The biomaster is the same as the aspire. Might look into a sustain FG
