Storm Season is here...

Hi guys,

Just a reminder that we're experiencing severe storms here on the Gold Coast and pretty much all the way down to Sydney.

Carbon rods conduct electricity and there is a chance of you acting like a lightening rod - mostly these days all rods are carbon or parts thereof.

Anyhow just a friendly reminder that lightning does kill and if you see storm clouds "down rods" and find cover - especially when on a boat...

Dont want to hear about any fish'o being killed just because they wanted one last cast - think of your mates and family and not just yourself.

Pic of a rod that was struck by lightening in the USA - it does happen more than anyone cares to think.

Yup - some "EPIC" pics on FC Higgins Storm Chasing and some others...

We've been glanced here at Paradise Point / Coomera. We had a particularly nasty one tonight come through from SSW and I was pretty worried myself.

I have 16 Bonsai's outside

Tomorrow we have Tornado warning and a multitude of other warnings - again at work and hand in mouth and eye's to the sky!

It's been getting quite nasty the last week or so. Even worse is the fact that it is coming in waves.

We're having picture perfect days up until about 3pm when it suddenly changes to dark and stormy. Half hour on, half hour off. Followed by a barrage of hail and heavy rain subsided once again by clear skies for another half hour.

Several times I've almost been caught out in an attempt to go for a sneaky fish in between to make the most of a tide and weather change. Thankfully I've pulled plug early or found shelter nearby.

It's getting a bit beyond the joke though and a risk that I shouldn't have been taking.

It does seem however to have finally let up after a week of attacks with the rain easing late last night. This morning looks like things have changed dramatically with with perhaps a couple of days to recover from the relentless rollercoaster of weather.

Fingers crossed I can get back out out for a flick soon. i'm chomping at the bit.

Sean

Yeh some "CRAZY" weather going on - and yes it makes me wonder about the butterfly effect!

Anyhow considder this!

Flash Facts About Lightning
National Geographic News
Updated June 24, 2005
Organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and other partners, Lightning Safety Week is held the last full week of June each year.

Lightning is one of the leading weather-related causes of death and injury in the United States. Most people do not realize that they can be struck by lightning even when the center of a thunderstorm is 10 miles (16 kilometers) away and there are blue skies overhead.

So yeh be safe and down rods.
