Loomis GLX cod rod

Hi, I'm looking to buy a GLX for casting HB's, spinnerbaits ect for large murray cod, any suggestions on what GLX people are using for this purpose would be great!

These are the GLX casting models I have been looking at, MBR 843, MBR 844, CBR 847, CBR 845.

I may need to by 2? one for spinnerbaits, chatters and vibes and one for hards? any suggestions welcome

cheers

Dams or rivers and what weight are you throwing? I'd go for the 3 or 4 power ones but if yiur chasing the metre plus fish consistantly and throwing big weights then the 7 power wouldnt be out of place in lakes like mulwala

Mainly for rivers Boris, throwing 5/8 to 3/4oz for spinnerbaits and chatters and hards to 50g, chasing metre plus fish in heavy timber, will be matched to a Daiwa Z2020 with 30lb braid

I havent spotted any sites with references to POWER in numbers as you discribed except when they list Power= med/heavy if you know of a site that lists numbered power ratings that would be great?

cheers

Here is what G Loomis have on their site about power ratings. The ratings can be different across the various ranges they have.

Cbr 845 would be my pick. My only concern is the lenght for casting amongst cover.

Thanks for the link Chris, much appreciated

Thanks Boris, I was leaning towards the 845 should be ok with 7ft, most of the timber i will be casting will be below water level with not much overhanging timber

Anyone have experience buying from American legacy site?

If you want to cast for accuracy as opposed to distance, also consider some of the shorter rods such as the CR 723 GLX for the lighter lures. Awesome rod with enough backbone to handle a big cod but importantly featherlight to cast all day which is well and truly on the cards when casting for cod.
