I have a 2000 on a gen black drunkmonkey. Great reel, caught ridiculous amounts of fish and still super smooth

Mechanically it's a decent reel. Will serve you well if you're on a tight budget. For me it feels a bit plasticky. If you stretch $40 more get the caldia that's a quality reel that won't disappoint.

I use a freams on one of my setups and it has not faulted, nice a smooth reel for the coin, have caught some very nice fish on it mate. If i use a Daiwa product and praise it it must be a good thing

Quality of the finish and components. As I said the freams is a bit plasticky for my liking. Daiwa reels from sol and up are quality and won't disappoint regarding mechanics and cosmetics. I can't say the same for the freams. It'd get the job done no worries but it's doesnt feel quality as I'd like it to.

I've heard of 3 brand new ones that had a grinding sensation straight out of the box.

Mine is one of them.

One of them fixed itself through use and the other required a few drops of oil down the main shaft to sort it out.

I'm going to put some oil down the shaft of mine to see if that fixes it

My mate has one and he raves about it, not a bad reel, but nothing compared to the Caldia, with the magseal.
Much rather a Caldia for the extra $$ will be as good twice as long

For $200-250 there is better options, I've only played in store with one and compared to something like a sol or Caldia your better off spending that bit more because you get a whole lot more quality, or better yet get a ci4 for the same price.

Good value for money reel. I own a 2500 and have lost count of all the jew and snapper I have caught with this reel. Not to mention the occasional tuna and kingfish.. Going on 18months now and still good! Not as smooth as it used to be (its been dunked under water) but has never been serviced. Still going strong!
