FC and 1000's

In the past, when fishing FC straight through, I have always used a 2500 size reel.
I plan on doing a bit more kayak fishing soon and limiting my rods I want to run 3lb Sunline Sniper on a 1000 Ci4.
Does FC go OK on 1000 size reels?
Also, is there a line that suits 1000's better than Sniper?
Thanks.

I run 3lb Famell Spinning Flouro on two 1000 size reels. I am careful with line management as this stuff is thin but it seems fine on those size reels.

I'm running the exact same set up, 3lb sniper and ci4 1000 and haven't had any issues so far.

It will be fine on a 1000. I've found it to cast better and have less memory off a larger spool though. Recently spooled my 1000 two power with FC and havnt had any problems

I have not had any problems with it.
It has accounted for some nice fish around the jetties at Paynesville.

Might try some next spool.
Where I fish flattys are a problem. I need something to guard against those teeth.

I run 3lb Unitika Silver Thread FC on my 1000 daiwa and it's good stuff. I'm not expert and never have any issues with the line.

Hi Bloodworm .. could you flesh out what you mean by "line management" .. I run 3lb Sniper on a 2004 Caldia but find there are times when I end up with massive line twist .. I've spooled on tight and try and keep tension when retrieving but still end up with twist
Cheers Saratoga (Steve)

I just check the spool for any sign of slack line and make sure I do a long cast and retrieve under pressure a little more often than I do with braid.

Something I have done in the past is let the line off the spool into the water as the boat is slowly moving forward. Let out a cast and a half of line then wind back onto the spool through my fingers.

I originally ran 3lb Sunline Basic on a 1000 ci4 and had a few line issues. I've since moved to 3lb Sunline Sniper on both a 1000 Biomaster and 1000 ci4. I haven't had any line issues thus far, though I'm still not catching DohDohDohDoh on those setups, or any others for that matter.

To help with any line twist issues, at the end of every second or third trip I'll remove the lure and drop the line off the back of the yak and let all the line come of the spool as I move away. I wind it back in and its ready to go for next time. Seems to solve any twist issues.

how tight ? i usually just wind it on as it comes off the spool with slight thumb/forefinger tension i.e. not 'tight' never with wet rag and tight grip like braid if you know what i mean ..

3lb sniper on 1500 and 2506 daiwa - no probs.

hey guys, some advice re spooling FC.

dont spool too tightly (as you would braid) as you will stretch the fc causing a whole heaps of issues when casting. this is a top tip i was given a while ago. just spool with light firm pressure using your fingers. hope this helps
