YGK Braid

Got this string from Bluewater Scabs today incredibly thin 4lb,8 strand at a reasonable price...anyone using it what are your thoughts?

Cheers Steve.

I've got the 4lb on a 2004 certate at the moment:

Pro's

1) Easily the best casting line I'm able to cast further using this line than I was when using SAS Tournament braid.

2) Line manages well on the spool. I have had a wind knot though.

3) I've been really impressed with the abrasion resistance and strength of this line.

4) Knot strength's great I've used slim beauties and albright knots no dramas at all. For this reason I prefer it to SAS Tournament braid.

5) Bite detection on line is good it's easy to see.

Con's

I've had 2 instances where the braid broke while trying to set the hook on a fish there was no problems with the drag or the runners on the rod.

Mate as above said, knots well , abrasion great, I however use it mainly on bass baitcasters, can't really fault it, have been using it for years through all the upgraded releases. The only down side that I have ever noticed is it looses its colour, and obviously goes white. YGK is in my opinion gets overlooked in Aus but is right up there with the best. The G-Soul is one of the best priced Braids on the markets at around $30.

Update.

Used the line at the recent Mandurah classic was very impressed with the line lay and casting ability of the line but it seems I need a new leader to mainline knot as my albright popped twice on the micro thin 4lb.We managed our four fish bag for the event finishing tenth but the YGK was side lined early after the leader popping on two casts.
May try the 6lb as the 4lb is silly thin.

Cheers Steve.
